Chinese Broccoli in Garlic Oyster sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch Chinese Broccoli or Kailan/Gailan
  • 1 TBSP minced or finely chopped garlic
  • 1 pinch white pepper powder
  • 1 TBSP oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 pinch salt to taste

Cooking Instructions

  1. Gather and prep all ingredients. Wash the vegetable. Kailan or chinese broccoli has a very hard stem. Lightly crush or bruise the stems. Then cut and separate the stems and the green leaves
  2. Heat 3-4 tablespoons of neutral oil in a pan. Add minced garlic and sauté until it turns lightly golden. Add the stems and cook for a minute or two until it turns bright green. Add a pinch of white pepper powder. Stir again.
  3. Add the leaves. Stir for few seconds over medium high heat until the leaves are wilted. Add oyster sauce & sesame oil. Stir until the greens are cooked, for about a minute. Taste and adjust seasonings accordingly or add salt to taste.
  4. Garnish with fried garlic granules or store-bought fried onions. Serve hot with hot rice.
