Japanese Steamed Cakes

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup All-purpose flour
  2. 2 Eggs
  3. 1 tsp Baking powder
  4. 1 cup Mozzarella cheese grated
  5. 1/2 cup Sweet corn kernels
  6. 1/2 tsp Salt
  7. 2 tbsp sugar
  8. 1 tbsp canola oil
  9. 4 tbsp milk

Cooking Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk the eggs along with oil, milk and sugar until fluffy.
  2. Next fold in the dry ingredients like flour and baking powder along with the salt.
  3. Now stir in the cheese and the corn kernels.
  4. Grease the idli plates.
  5. Keep a large vessel ready for steaming with water added to it or a idli cooker.
  6. Now add a spoonful of the mix into each depression of the idli plate and slowly lower inside the vessel with boiling water.
  7. Cover and steam for 10 to 12 minutes.
  8. After 12 minutes, insert a skewer to check whether they are done or not.
  9. If the skewer comes out clean, it means they are done perfectly well, otherwise steam them for 2 more minutes.
  10. Serve these yummy cheesy steamed goodies right away with honey or maple syrup or just as it is.
