Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 cup ghee or oil
- 3/4 cup lukewarm water
Cooking Instructions
- Mix dry ingredients:
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder. Add the ghee or oil to the dry ingredients and mix until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
- Add lukewarm water: Gradually add the lukewarm water to the mixture and knead the dough for 5-7 minutes, until it becomes smooth and pliable. Now cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Making Lacha:
Divide the dough into 6-8 equal portions. Roll out each portion into a thin circle, about 6-7 inches in diameter. Fold the circle into a triangle, then fold it again into a triangle, and finally roll.
- Cook the paratha:
Heat a non-stick pan or griddle over medium heat. Place the paratha on the pan and cook for 30-45 seconds on each side, until it’s golden brown and crispy.
